Floodwater submerged about 35 villages in three upazilas of the district, leaving some 20,000 people marooned.
The flood-hit people have taken shelter on high areas including the embankment.
Of the affected villages, 15 each are in Chirirbandar and Biral upazilas while five in Sadar upazila.
Crops on 10,000 hectares of land were totally damaged by the flood.
Sources at the District Water Development Board (WDB) said all the 17 rivers running through the district were flowing above their danger marks.
Besides, 89.40 millimeters of rainfall were recorded in the district in the last 48 hours.
However, the residents of Rajarampur village in Birla upazila are passing their days amid panic as several cracks developed on the slope of the flood protection embankment.
Meanwhile, flood situation in Niphamari turned worse as the Teesta River running through the district swelled due to ceaseless rain and onrush of water from hills.
The Teesta was flowing 30cm above its danger level on Wednesday. Locals alleged that the relief materials are yet to reach the flood-affected areas.
Besides, incessant rain and onrush of water from the upstream aggravated the flood situation in Kurigram.
About 150 chars (landmass emerged from riverbed) and island chars on Dhorla and Brahmaputra river basins, and low-lying areas of the villages near the two rivers were inundated by the floodwaters.
