Sixteen people have died with coronavirus infections in the last 24 hours, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said today.
The death toll now stands at 386 and the death rate at 1.44 percent, said Prof Dr Nasima Sultana, additional director general (administration) of DGHS, during a briefing.
One thousand six hundred and seventeen have tested positive for Covid-19 in the last 24 hours. With this, the total number of infected has reached 26,738.
A total of 10,207 samples were tested in 43 labs across the country in the last 24 hours, Dr Nasima said.
Meanwhile, 214 Covid-19 patients have recovered since yesterday.
A total of 300 people were put under isolation in the last 24 hours, she added.
Among the deceased, seven were from Dhaka, five from Chattogram, one from Sylhet and another was from Rangpur division.
Of them, 13 were male and three female, the DGHS official said, adding that 12 of them died while being treated at different hospitals and the other four at their respective homes.
Age wise, one of them was a child under 10 years old, while the rest were adults — one within 21-30, one between 31-40, one between 41-50, five within 51-60, four were between 61-70, two within 71-80, and another within 81-90 years old — Dr Nasima added.
