BUET closed for indefinite period

Authorties of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology closed the university for an indefinite period after vandalism on the campus by some students.

Students have been asked to vacate campus premises by 5:00pm Thursday, an emergency notice put out by the authorities, said.
The university registrar AKM Masud said the authorities had to close down the university at deterioration of law and order.
A group of students who had besieged the offices of the university vice-chancellor, registrar and director of students’ welfare on June 23 demanding postponement of term final examinations had carried out the attack and vandalism on Wednesday night, the authorities claimed in a release.
