Police on Monday pressed charges against 152 people in two cases filed for making attacks on Buddhist temples and houses in Ramu, Ukhia, and Teknaf upazilas in September last year.
With the latest ones, police submitted chargesheets against 304 people in seven cases filed for looting, arson attacks and vandalism in the three upazilas.
Earlier on Sunday night, police pressed charges against 152 people in five cases. Of the five chargesheets, one was submitted by Ramu Police Station and two each by Ukhia and Cox’s Bazar police stations.
Teknaf thana police submitted two more chargesheets to a court today.
Police had finalised the chargesheets of seven of the 19 cases last week after 11 months of the incident.
The attacks on the Buddhists at Ramu upazila in Cox’s Bazar on September 29 followed the posting of a photograph disgracing the holy Quran on a facebook account.
Eleven Buddhist temples and 30 houses of the minority community were vandalised during the violence. The following day, another seven temples and 11 houses of Buddhists were vandalised and torched in Ukhia and Teknaf upazilas.
After the incidents, eight cases were filed with Ramu Police Station, while seven with Ukhia and two each with Teknaf and Cox’s Bazar Sadar police stations.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will visit Ramu and Ukhia Tuesday to inaugurate the reconstructed Buddhist temples there.

Govt should evenhandedly contain this violence. Though Myanamar did a poor job in protecting Muslims there. But violence begets violence.
