Observing that unbridled corruption has gripped the whole country, Jatiya Party (JaPa) chairman HM Ershad on Wednesday said people want to get rid of this situation.
“There’s no environment in the country to live in as the country has plunged into corruption and bribe. Everywhere, there’s bribe and bribe. People want to get rid of this situation,” he said.
Ersahd, also a Special Envoy to the Prime Minister, was addressing an iftar party hosted by his party’s Dhaka South city unit at a hotel at Bangabandhu Avenue.
Venting his anger at the nagging traffic congestions in the capital, the JaPa chief said, “People get stuck in terrific jam on roads. I started from my house at 5pm and arrived here after almost two hours. This situation can’t be allowed to continue.”
He also predicted that there will be a desired change in the country only if Jatiya Party assumes power, saying only his party can bring change and development for the nation and its people.
Jatiya Party secretary general Ziauddin Ahmed Bablu and its presidium member GM Quader, among others, spoke at the programme held with Jatiya Party Dhaka South city unit president Syed Abul Hossain Babla MP in the chair.
