The incident occurred at around 7pm on Monday in the Madhya Puthiapara area near the municipality’s Ansar Camp, said Poba Police Station OC Shariful Islam.
Among those injured are the municipality’s Acting Mayor Shafiqul Islam, Upazila Krishak League President Mansur Rahman and General Secretary Wajed Ali, Upazila Juba League President Imdadul Haque, Awami League party workers Manik Hossain and Rasel Ali.
The OC said three of the injured including Khan had been admitted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital and the rest given first aid at a local clinic in Naohata.
Imdadul Haque said two crude bombs had been hurled at 25-30 Awami League leaders and workers while they were campaigning with the mayor candidate.
One of the explosives landed in an open space, but the other exploded amidst the campaigners.
Two bombs were thrown when Abdul Bari Khan was meeting people after inspecting a voting entre at the Puthiapara Primary School, said OC Islam.
Police arranged to send the injured to hospital, he said, adding that efforts were on to arrest the attackers.
