Bogra AL leader arranges electoral feast closing school activities

Kahalu upazila Awami League president Helal Uddin Kabiraj on Thursday arranged a feast at Kahalu Pilot High School in the upazila town allegedly closing all the activities of the school for the day to woo his voters.
The ruling party leader, also the incumbent Kahalu municipality mayor, arranged the feast in the name of ‘electoral view exchange meeting’ on the occasion of the upcoming municipality election.
The election to be held in late December and Helal has taken initiatives to contest in the polls as a mayor candidate of the municipality, the party insiders said.
They alleged that the AL leader influenced to close the school activities to arrange the electoral meeting cum feast as his brother Kamal Uddin Kabiraj was the president of the school’s managing committee.
The school’s headmaster Abdus Salam said that they kept the school closed for arrangement of seats of Junior School Certificate examination, scheduled to begin on Sunday.
The upazila education officer Mokbul Hossain said that the school authorities did not inform him about the closure of the school for the day.
Helal, however, said he arranged the electoral meeting to examine the municipality dwellers’ opinion and used the school premises as the school remained closed for the day.
