Communications Minister Obaidul Quader on Tuesday said BNP will finally take part in the 10th parliamentary polls under the pressure from its leaders and activists.
He came up the remarks while talking to reporters at his office.
Replying to a question whether the main opposition would be able to complete its preparations for the polls as only one week is left for submitting nomination papers, Obaidul said, “I believe BNP can take all preparations in time. If they think they need more time, they can request the Election Commission to change the election schedule.”
He also said if the EC entertains their demand, the government will have nothing to do with that as it’s the responsibilities of the EC to announce the polls schedule.
“We don’t’ believe BNP will skip the next parliamentary elections as many of its leaders have already pasted banners and festoons seeking votes. They’re also conducting election campaign from processions and movements,” he added.
The minister said following the announcement of the election schedule, ministers would not enjoy ministerial facilities when they will go to their respective constituencies.
He also said the ministers of the polls-time government will only carry out their routine work.
