BNP has denounced the apex court decision to scrap the bail of senior party leaders including the acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.

The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court annulled the High Court’s anticipatory bail for five BNP leaders, including Fakhrul, in violence cases on Sunday.

The four other leaders are Standing Committee member Mirza Abbas, Joint Secretary Amanullah Aman, Dhaka BNP Member Secretary Abdus Salam and Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal Joint Secretary Obaidul Haq Nasir.

BNP Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi denounced the bail cancellation in a press briefing at the party headquarters in Nayapaltan at the capital on Monday morning.

He also alleged that the government is torturing and harassing BNP leaders all over the country, what he dubbed as an undemocratic process.
