BNP should receive training from AL, says Obaidul about its movement

Communications Minister Obaidul Quader on Tuesday asked the main opposition BNP to receive training from Awami League as to how a movement can be successful.

He came up with the remarks while talking to reporters at his office.

Obaidul Quader said BNP has launched many movements in the last five years to topple the government but failed every time. “It’s evident they have no courage. They have to learn how to wage a movement. BNP should take training from Awami League in this regard.”

The minister said no BNP leaders were seen on the street to join their March for Democracy programme on December 29 when most of their central leaders are out of jail.

Replying to a question, he said those who participate in any movement should have experience of serving in prison so that they have no lack of courage.

Turning to BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia’s remarks about Gopalganj, Obaidul said there was no policeman drawn from the district in front of her house when the opposition leader made the ‘indecent’ comment before the journalists on Sunday afternoon.

He also expected that the opposition chief would be more responsible while talking to the journalists.

The minister also said the arrests or detentions made so far were done lawfully.

About the opposition’s indefinite blockade beginning on Wednesday, Obaidul said the government would not obstruct it if peaceful.
