Apparently showing a thumb to the opposition’s threat to wage a strong movement, Home Minister Muhiuddin Khan Alamgir on Sunday said BNP has no capability to carry out such a movement.
“BNP has no right to create anarchy in the country in the name of movement. If they try to do that we’ll resist them with an iron hand and the government has such strength,” he said.
The minister came up with the remarks while talking to reporters after a high-level inter-ministerial meeting on law and order at the Secretariat.
About the opposition’s threat to cripple the country, Alamgir said, “All sweet wills of a wild horse don’t come true. Enough strength is needed to materialise that. BNP’s will also not be fulfilled as it lacks necessary strength and ability to do so,” he added.
Asked about the recent political killings, the Home Minister said as per the primary investigations indicate that those were cause by internal feuds.
“The government is worried, but not panicked over the incidents. We’ll do everything necessary to contain such incidents,” he added.
Mentioning that the police administration was given the directive to take all-out measures to stop political killings, he said the law enforcers are working sincerely in this regard.
The Home Minister claimed that the law and order situation across the country is satisfactory except some stray incidents.
Alamgir said he has directed the law enforces to remain on highest alert to maintain the law and order ahead of Eid-ul-Azha and Durga Puja.
Posts and Telecommunication Minister Sahara Khatun, Labour and Employment Minister Rajiuddin Ahmed Raju, State Minister for Home Advocate Shamsul Haque Tuku, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Hassan Mahmud Khandaker and high official concerned were, among others, present at the meeting.
