A court here on Sunday sent BNP joint secretary general Aman Ullah Aman to jail in four cases.

Chief Judicial Magistrate Taiyabul Hasan Uzzal passed the order after the BNP leader surrendered before his court seeking bail in the cases.

Aman was on High Court bail in the four cases filed with Keraniganj Police Station.

As the duration of the HC bail expired, he appeared before the lower court with bail petitions.

The cases were filed on charges of vandalising and torching vehicles, obstructing cops from discharging their duties and exploding crude bombs during hartal and blockade programmes in November last year.

Meanwhile, another court granted three BNP leaders — standing committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, Aman and its finance affairs secretary Abdus Salam — bail in four other cases filed with Ramna and Shahbagh police stations in the city.

Metropolitan Magistrate Asaduzzaman Nur passed the order on a bond of Tk 50,000.
