He urged the people and ruling party leaders and activists to ‘remain alert to foil the conspiracies’.

Speaking at a discussion in Dhaka on Friday, the Awami League Advisory Council member said several other foreign intelligence agencies were also involved in the plots.

Sengupta said ‘a conspiracy has begun internationally’ to unseat Bangladesh’s incumbent government.

He offered no clue as to where he accessed the information.

bdnews24.com, quoting Indian intelligence, recently reported that a Western spy agency was funding the Jamaat and its associate fronts through India’s Saradha Group to overthrow the Hasina government by creating anarchy.

Sengupta further claimed BNP chief Khaleda’s recent countrywide travel was part of the conspiracies against the government.

“Leaders and activists of the BNP and Jamaat are getting organised at the call of Khaleda. But that is not for any movement; that is for overthrowing an elected government through conspiracies,” he said.

Addressing Khaleda, the Awami League leader said: “You will fail. You will fail this time too much the same way your conspiracy to thwart the Jan 5 elections had failed.”

He called for building a non-communal and democratic Bangladesh imbued with the spirit of Liberation War.

Bangabandhu Academy organised the discussion at Dhaka Reporters Unity auditorium.
