The BNP-led 20-party’s ongoing blockade programme will continue during the namaz-e-janaza and burial of BNP chairperson’s younger son Arafat Rahaman Koko, BNP standing committee member Moudud Ahmed said on Sunday night.
Moudud came up with the announcement while talking to reporters after a meeting of BNP senior leaders at the BNP chief’s Gulshan office.
Replying to a question whether their blockade will continue during the janaza and burial of Arafat Rahman, he said, “The janaza will be held on time and the movement programme will also remain on…our programme will continue.”
Apart from Moudud, BNP standing committee members Jamiruddin Sircar, Lt Gen (retd) Mahbubur Rahman, Dr Moyeen Khan, Nazrul Islam Khan, vice chairman Selima Rahman and BNP chief’s adviser Khandaker Mahbub Hossain, among others, attended the meeting.
Moudud said their party chief was almost unconscious as of 9pm today and they could not meet her.
The BNP leader, however, said the BNP chief gave them a message to continue the movement until its success is achieved.
He also said Khaleda thanked the diplomats, politicians and common people who showed sympathy to her at the death of her younger son Arafat Rahman.
The BNP chief also expressed gratitude to those gave her strength and courage to bear the shock by expressing their sympathy to her, Moudud added.
The BNP leader hoped that Khaleda’s morale will remain high with people’s support to their ongoing movement.
