The information minister and head of Jatiya Samajtanrik Dal (JSD) was speaking at a protest meet condemning the ongoing Israeli attacks on Gaza on Sunday.

Bernicat said the Jan 5 polls was ‘undeniably flawed’ while submitting her statement on Bangladesh for the record before the senate committee on foreign relations in Washington last week.

She said she would ‘take forward Washington’s policy in Bangladesh’ if her nomination is confirmed. Bernicat is currently deputy assistant secretary at US State Department’s Bureau of Human Resources.

She was nominated to replace Dan W Mozena by US President Barak Obama in May.

“Honourable US ambassador, please don’t talk like a BNP spokesperson. What you should do instead is take initiatives to build friendlier ties between the people of Bangladesh and the US,” said Inu.

“The Americans have sided with Israel. They were silent even when Jamaat and Hifazat led by Begum Khaleda Zia were burning the people of this country alive.”
