Bangladeshis in Egypt ‘safe’

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has said Bangladeshis in Egypt are ‘safe’ and that the mission in Cairo is “maintaining regular contact with them”.

“Security advisory has been issued,” the ministry in a media note said on Thursday night in the wake of the bloody crackdown by security forces on the pro-Morsi supporters in Cairo that left more than 500 people killed.

Egypt’s army deposed its first elected President Mohamed Morsi on July 3 after days of protest by opposition supporters.

Since then, Morsi’s Muslim Brotherhood supporters are on the streets demanding reinstatement of Morsi government.
