The government has also cancelled Eid holiday for railway staffs
No heavy vehicle will be allowed to ply on roads three days before and two days after Eid-ul-fitr.
However, the vehicles carrying garments, fuel and perishables will remain out of the prohibition.
The decision was taken at an inter-ministerial meeting held at Engineers Institution in the capital on Friday evening.
Ministers of communications, railway and shipping ministries and transport owners attended the meeting.
The government also cancelled Eid holiday for railway staffs. Leaves of the key officials of the communications ministry and its departments concerned were also cancelled.
In the meeting, Communications Minister Obaidul Quader said: “All the damaged roads in the capital will be renovated within 10 days.”
