Awami League names secretaries for Central Working Committee

At a media briefing on Monday, Quader announced names of several secretaries for the new committee.

Organising Secretaries Ahmed Hossain, Md Misbah Uddin Siraj, BM Mozammel Haque, AFM Bahauddin Nasim, Abu Sayeed Al Mahmud Swapan, Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury got two new comrades, Enamul Haque Shamim and Barrister Mahbiul Hasan Chowdhury Nowfel.

During the last term, Shamim served as member for the central committee while Nowfel, the son of Chittagong metropolitan unit Awami League chief ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury, has been included in the party’s central body for the first time.

Bir Bahadur, who served as an organising secretary the previous term, has been dropped.

The Awami League amended its charter during its National Council to increase the number of organising secretaries from seven to eight.

Among the 19 secretaries, on Monday, Quader announced names of 14 and six of them are new faces.

>> Sujit Roy Nandi has been made the new Social Welfare Secretary replacing Faridunnahar Laily.

>> Mrinal Kanti Das appointed the Liberation War Affairs Secretary, a post previously held by ABM Tajul Islam.

>> Shamsunnahar Chapa will replace Nurul Islam Nahid as the Education and Human Resource Affairs Secretary. Nahid has been included in the party’s policymaking Presidium.

>> Asim Kumar Ukil has been made the new Cultural Affairs Secretary replacing Asaduzzaman Noor.

>> Rokeya Sultana replaces Badiuzzaman Bhuiyan as the Health and Population Affairs Secretary.

Eight other secretaries have been appointed for another three years.
