Asean for stronger trade ties with B’desh

Representatives of the Association of Southeast nations (Asean) member states said here on Sunday that there is ample scope to expand trade and investment between Bangladesh and Asean countries and laid emphasis on mutual cooperation for stronger trade ties.

 

They hoped that Bangladesh’s relation with the Asean countries would be strengthened further in the days to come.

 

The observation was made during a meeting between Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury and a delegation of Asean countries at her office.

 

Mentioning Bangladesh’s strong relationship with the Asean countries, the Speaker said, “The socioeconomic relations between the people of Bangladesh and Asean countries is very firm and deep, and the economic ties are getting stronger.”

 

She hoped that the people-to-people contact will be increased further in the days to come.

 

High Commissioner of Brunei Darussalam in Dhaka Haji Abdul Razak Bin Mohd Hussaini, Thai Ambassador Madurapochana Ittarong, Myanmar Ambassador Myo Myint Than, Malaysian Deputy Chief of Mission Ahmad Fikri Bin Zakian, Vietnam ambassador Nguyen Quang Thuc and Indonesian Ambassador Iwan Wiranata-Atmadja were, among others, present.
