A six-day director general-level conference between Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Border Security Force (BSF) of India begins in Indian capital New Delhi tomorrow (Monday).
BGB Director General Major General Aziz Ahmed will lead a 23-member Bangladesh delegation while BSF DG Subhash Joshi the Indian side to the border conference that will end on March 23.
Sources at the BGB headquarters said the Bangladesh side will raise a number of issues relating to the security of the open Indo-Bangladesh border, including killing of unarmed Bangladeshi nationals allegedly by BSF and Indian citizens, cross-border movement of locals and criminals, smuggling of Indian firearms and narcotics into Bangladesh and illegal trespass by BSF and Indian nationals into Bangladesh territory, at the conference.
The DG-level meeting between the two border guarding forces is a bi-annual affair with each country hosting its counterpart once at its national capital.
