A court here on Sunday issued a warrant for the arrest of suspended General Manager (East Zone) of Bangladesh Railway Yusuf Ali Mridha and four others in two corruption cases.
Issuing the arrest warrant, Senior Special Judge of Chittagong Metropolitan Court SM Mujibur Rahman fixed November 21 for the next hearing of the cases filed for irregularities in the railway recruitment against the posts of fuel checker and assistant chemist.
The our other accused are railway social welfare officers Golam Kibria and Hafizur Rahman, and two illegally appointed employees Abul Kashem and Anisur Rahman.
On October 6, the same court issued a warrant for the arrest of Mridha and three others in another graft case.
The Anti Corruption Commission filed the two cases with Kotwali Police Station on September 13 last year for appointing unqualified persons by manipulating recruitment test results.
ACC Assistant Director Rashidur Reza submitted the charge sheets to the court of Chittagong Chief Judicial Magistrate Mashiur Rahman on October 2 this year.
On April 9 last year, Border Guard Bangladesh detained former Railways Minister Suranjut Sengupta’s assistant personal secretary and Mridha along with Tk 70 lakh stashed in a car.
It was believed that the money was collected from job aspirants to railway as bribe.
