Dhaka North City Corporation mayoral candidate Mahi B Chowdhury on Wednesday said fellow Awami League-backed contender Annisul Huq’s electoral manifesto lacks essence.
Mahi alleged that Annisul does not have any specific goal for the development of the city dwellers and the businessman is afraid of getting engaged in open debate with other contenders.
Mahi, who is running in the DNCC polls with ‘eagle’ as his election symbol, was speaking at his election campaign in the city’s Kalshi area around 1:30pm.
Annisul has become a billionaire thanks to the labourers, but he did not bother to map out anything for the welfare of the labourers in his manifesto, alleged Mahi.
Mahi ran his campaign under the banner ‘Youth are on the street, we want a clean city and clean politics’.
He was accompanied by some 150 volunteers carrying shovels and brooms in five trucks.
The volunteers swept the roads of Kalshi as part of the campaign.
