Unwilling to move out of its self-imposed time warp, the Pakistan Jamaat said in a statement: “Abdul Quader Molla was hanged to death because he was loyal to Pakistan and supported Pakistan army during the 1971 war”.

Molla, a leader of Jamaat-e-Islami in Bangladesh, was executed on Thursday night at 10.01pm for his crimes against humanity including mass murder during the 1971 war of independence.

Jamaat wholeheartedly sided with Pakistan’s occupation army during the 1971 Liberation War and its activists were involved in mindless atrocities.

According to the ‘Dawn’ report, the Jamaat leaders in a protest rally also said that Molla had been given the capital punishment as “he loved Pakistan and its people”.

The Pakistan Jamaat leaders and activists gathered at Al-Markaz-i-Islami Peshawar on Friday and offered gayebana namaz-e-janaza (funeral prayer in absentia) for Molla.

The Jamaat activists in Bangladesh have gone on an orgy of violence across the country since Molla’s hanging.

Pakistan Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Jamaat chief Prof Mohammad Ibrahim said that Molla had been given the capital punishment because ” he loved Pakistan and its people”.

The Dawn quoted Ibrahim as saying that “hanging of a political figure was un-Islamic and against all norms of democracy”.

He demanded registration of FIR against Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her party for executing a leader of the opposition.

At Lakki Marwat, the Jamaat leader said Molla was hanged to death “because he was loyal to Pakistan and supported Pakistan army during the 1971 war”.

They urged the government of Pakistan to take the matter to the International Court of Justice.

According to the report, the Jamaat activists also asked the Pakistan government to sever ties with Bangladesh and call back its ambassador from Dhaka.

At Mansehra, the Jamaat leaders said it was “unfortunate that a pro-Pakistan JI (Jamaat-e-Islami) leader was executed by the Bangladesh government, but our rulers and political leaders didn’t even condemn his extrajudicial killing,” reports Dawn.
