The BNP has accused the ruling Awami League (AL) of killing its party activists.
BNP Joint General Secretary Ruhul Kabir Rizvi levelled the charge at a press briefing held at the BNP’s Naya Paltan office on Friday morning.
“Every day, there are reports of BNP stalwarts being killed across the country. Yesterday, the Railway Police arrested Gafargaon upazila Jubo Dal leader Md shakil in Mymensingh and handed him over to criminals of the Jubo League and Chatra League. They battered him to death. In another incident, BNP leader, Kabir, was injured,” Rizvi said.

The BNP leader also condemned the alleged rape of a housewife by a Chatra League leader in a Moghbazar hotel on June 8.
“Corruption and wrongdoings have perverted their sense; so they turn a blind eye to the current problems,” he said.
The ruling party was devoid of conscience, he said, and hence clung to power gained in a one-sided election.
Rizvi demanded that the “illegitimate” government revive the democratic process and restore people’s voting rights.
He warned that agitation would be the only way to unseat the government if it refused to meet the demand.
BNP Member Secretary Abdus Salam, Assistant Information and Rresearch Secretary Habibur Rahman Habib, Assistant Bureau Secretary Abdul Latif Jonny among others were present at the briefing.
