Afghanistan national cricket team arrived in Dhaka on Wednesday with high hopes to leave their mark during their maiden one-day international series against Bangladesh.
Afghanistan will play three one-day internationals against hosts at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium respectively on September 25, 28 and October 1.
The Afghans included three leg-spinners in their 17-member squad that indicates they are prepared to give Tigers some hard time considering their weakness with leg-spin.
Rashid Khan, an 18 year old leg-spin prodigy, has already earned a name for himself and with the inclusion of Samiullah Shinwari and Rahmat Shah, make a deadly trio.
Samiullah had already proved his worth against the Tigers while Rahmat has some knowledge regarding the local players during his stint with Mohammedan Sporting Club in the last edition of Dhaka Premier League.
Afghans had a 15-day camp in India to prepare them for the series as there are shortages of good grounds in their own backyard.
Earlier, Afghanistan used to practice mostly in Sharjah but as the expense went higher they opted to make Greater Noida Sports Complex in Uttar Pradesh as their practice ground.
Though skipper Asghar Stanikzai could not attend the training in India as he opted to go to Hajj, his return will surely boost the side.
There are three uncapped Karim Janat, Ihsanullah Janat and Naveenulhaq Murid.
The matches will have a reserve day while no DRS system will be applied in the series.
Afghanistan had earlier played in Asia Cup and ICC World Twenty20 in Bangladesh but will feature in a full-fledged ODI series for the first time.
Afghans stunned Bangladesh in the Asia Cup by handing them an embarrassing 32-run defeat at Fatullah.
