The rules for formation of an accreditation council for private universities will be finalised very soon by the Education Ministry, said member of the University Grants Commission (UGC) Atful Hye Shibly on Saturday.
Addressing a roundtable discussion, organised by Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) at its office, the UGC member said the rules for the accreditation council drafted by UGC as per the Private Universities Act 2010 is at the final stage of its approval by the ministry.
“Once the accreditation council is in place, there’ll be no (intervention of) UGC to look after the quality and standards of education … it’ll act as a sovereign council,” he said.
