The opposition BNP’s missing leader M Ilias Ali was the previous MP from this constituency.

Not a single vote was cast at the Ramdhana Government Primary School centre, Presiding Officer Md Bazlur Rahman told bdnews24.com around 4pm on Sunday.

Nobody went to vote in a show of protest against Ilias Ali’s disappearance, said Sylhet district BNP organizing secretary Ali Ahmad.

The total number of voters at the Sylhet-2 constituency was 1,910, of them 976 were males and 934 females.

Voter turnout was low in polling stations across the country due to the opposition’s general strike, shutdown blockade and violence to thwart the polls.

Sylhet district BNP President Ilian Ali along with his driver went missing from Dhaka’s Mohakhali since April 18, 2012.

BNP alleged that the government was behind the ‘disappearance’, but the authorities denied the allegation.
