The main opposition calls out to the people to boycott the January 5 elections
Main opposition BNP has reiterated its call to scrap the January 5 national elections and call a dialogue for polls in participation of all parties.
The call was made in a press briefing by Osman Faruk, BNP chairperson’s advisor, on Thursday during the second day of their non-stop agitation.
He thanked people for “making the blockade a success” and urged all to “say no” to the upcoming polls and “yes” to the “movement for democracy”.
The BNP leader condemned the “house arrest” of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia and alleged that the government was telling lies in this regard.
Faruk slammed the joint forces and said it was formed to implement the masterplan to enforce Baksal. “The joint force is being used for state-terrorism.”
The briefing called for immediate relief of Khaleda Zia from her “confinement,” allow the use of party office and the democratic right for party work.
Thursday was the second day of the blockade programme called from January 1 until the polls-date.
