Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu on Thursday said the ongoing dialogue between Awami League and BNP leaders over polls has been postponed.
“There’s no scope of holding dialogue over the 10th parliamentary election… we’ll have to hold the election on January 5 to uphold the constitution,” he told a press briefing at the secretariat.
Inu alleged BNP and Jamaat are conspiring to foil the 10th parliamentary polls. “BNP didn’t take any initiative in the last two and a half years to hold any dialogue or reach any understanding over polls. “They’ve failed to present any practical formula for holding polls.”
The Information Minister said BNP-Jamaat’s main aim is not election as their target is to stop the trial of war criminals.
Replying to a question, Inu said there will be no shot-term government as it will be elected for five years.
