The BNP-led 18-party alliance has withdrawn its call for a daylong countrywide shutdown for Sunday as Cyclone Mahasen is feared to hit the coastal regions of the country.
Shamsuzaman Dudu, BNP chairperson’s advisor, conveyed the decision to journalists a press conference at BNP headquarters at Naya Paltan.
The withdrawal call came seven hours after the opposition combine announced it would enforce the shutdown to protest the authorities’ refusal to issue it permission to hold a rally at Nayapaltan of the capital.
