Information and Broadcasting Adviser Md Nahid Islam on Friday called for strengthening cultural movement to motivate people against fascism.
The adviser made the call while speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural session of the 17th Bangladesh International Short and Independent Film Festival-2024 at the main auditorium of the National Museum at Shahbagh in the capital.
“Although one particular political fascist force was eliminated through the July-August mass uprising, many fascist tendencies and a ruling structure based on fascism still persist in our society. To overcome this situation, we must strengthen the cultural movement in the country,” he said.
The Bangladesh International Short and Independent Film Festival is dedicated to the martyrs of the July-August movement and artist SM Sultan, in honor of his birth centenary.
