Bangladesh Nationalist Party on Wednesday suspended Shama Obaid from all the party posts, including that of general secretary, she held, while also suspended Shahidul Islam Babul from his position of Krishak Dal general secretary for breaching party discipline.

Confirming the matter, a senior BNP leader said that these two leaders, being accused of breaching party discipline, were suspended from their positions.

They both are from Faridpur and engaged in internal feuds for a long time.

Meanwhile, one was killed and at least 10 people were injured in a clash between two groups of the party in Nagarkanda upazila of Faridpur on the day.

Deceased Kabir Bhuiyan, 55, was the son of Abul Basar Bhuiyan of Chagaldi village of Nagarkanda upazila that falls in Faridpur-2 constituency.

Both Shahidul Islam Babul and Shama Obaid seek BNP nomination from that seat.
