Former foreign minister and Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Foreign Ministry Dipu Moni yesterday in violation of the Rules of Procedure praised Saima Hossain Putul, daughter of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, in parliament.

After the scheduled question-and-answer session of the prime minister, House Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury allowed State Minister for Public Administration Ismat Ara Sadque to answer questions on women affairs in the absence of State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Meher Afroz Chumki.

The speaker gave the floor to Dipu Moni to ask supplementary questions made by Awami League MP Morshed Alam on women affairs ministry.

Morshed asked the minister about the government employment measures for poor women in Noakhali’s Senbagh upazila.

“I will not ask any question. I will make a comment. There was a question on health affairs for the prime minister. I tried to ask a question then but it was not discussed,” Dipu Moni told parliament.

She then thanked Putul for holding the post of UN consultant on autism affairs.

According to rule 56 of the Rules of Procedure, an MP should not ask any questions irrelevant to the main question.
