The incident occurred when the training session in the Upazila’s Monkhali area was underway around 7:30pm on Saturday, Ramu Cantonment chief Brig Gen Golam Faruk told bdnews24.com.
The three injured have been admitted to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital, said the hospital’s duty doctor Wahiduzzaman Murad.
Faruk said the deceased was identified as Sepoy Ibrahim Khalil Ripon, 31, and the injured were Lance Corporal Rasel Habib, Sergeant ‘Humayun’ and Sepoy Habibur Rahman.
The process to transport the wounded to Dhaka’s Combined Military Hospital by helicopter was in progress, he added.
The explosion killed Ripon on the spot, the army official said. The three others were then rushed to hospital.
