Rizvi on 5-day fresh remand

A Dhaka court has placed BNP Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on a five-day remand in a killing case filed over arson on a bus at Jatrabari.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Rezaul Karim granted the remand on Wednesday afternoon.

Investigation Officer SI Md Zahidul Islam produced Rizvi before the court with a 10-day remand plea.

The court also rejected a bail petition filed by defence lawyer Sanaullah Mia.

At least 15 people have received burns after miscreants set a passenger bus afire in the capital’s Jatrabari area on January 23.

Jatrabari police station Sub-Inspector KM Nuruzzaman filed a case on the following day, naming BNP chief Khaleda Zia mastermind in the arson.

The arson case trasmored into a killing case after a victim of the arson died while undergoing treatment at DMCH burn unit on February 1.
