The Awami League-led 14-party alliance on Thursday announced a three-day countrywide demonstration protesting the resolution adopted by the Pakistan parliament expressing concern over the execution of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami leader Abdul Quader Mollah.

The decision to hold the demonstration was taken at a meeting of the alliance at AL president’s political office on Dhanmondi in the city.

The 14-party will hold rallies in upazila headquarters on Sunday and district headquarters on Monday while in the capital on Tuesday.

Awami League presidium member Mohammad Nasim at a press briefing after the meeting said, “The 14-party thinks Pakistan’s attitude is aggressive and arrogant. It’s also void of political and diplomatic norms.”

The ruling party leader also alleged that BNP-Jamaat is trying to destabilise the country to save war criminals.

Samyabadi Dal general secretary Dilip Barua, Workers Party general secretary Anisur Rahman Mallick, Communist Kendra joint convener Asit Baran Roy, AL organising secretary Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury were, among others, present.
