Khaleda to brief media soon

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia is likely to meet the press very soon to brief about the ‘growing incidents of extrajudicial killing and human rights violation’.

“We’ll hold a press conference within a day or two to give you the detailed information about secret killings, forced disappearances, and other incidents relating to human rights violation. There’s a possibility that our chairperson (Khaleda) will address it,” said BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Wednesday.

Addressing a press conference at BNP chairperson’s Gulshan office, Fakhrul alleged that the government has resorted to all possible measures to annihilate the opposition to cling to power.

The BNP spokesman said the current regime is indiscriminately killing the opposition leaders and activists across the country as it has no responsibility to protect people’s life and property. “The secrete killings and extrajudicial killings have broken all the previous records. The bodies of both identified and unidentified people are being found here and there all over the country every day. Even a decomposed body was found at Dhaka University.”

Fakhrul claimed expressing their concern many international organisations, human rights bodies and countries are communicating with them about the growing incidents of the extra-judicial killings.

He urged the pro-liberation and pro-democratic forces to raise their voice against the government’s brutal repressive acts, undemocratic, fascist and autocratic attitude.

The BNP leader also urged the media to give due importance to the incidents of extrajudicial killings and the repressive acts to force the government to behave democratically.

  1. Pro liberation forces! Is she joking – she has strongest alliance with Jamaat (vehemently anti-liberation and most vocal and active pro-pakistani political party!)

  2. Mr. Ahsan: BNP has the most Freedom Fighters. Ziaur Rahman was a great Freedom Fighter. Awami League is loud about freedom fight but actually BNP has most of the notable freedom fighters. Let’s not divide the country on a term that AL loves most. AL also was uniyted with Jamaat in the not so near past.
