Khaleda demands Rizwana’s husband’s immediate rescue

Expressing deep concern over the abduction of Syeda Rizwana Hasan’s husband, BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia on Wednesday night demanded the government take immediate steps to rescue him for his safe return to his family.

In a statement, Khaleda also demanded exemplary punishment of those involved in the incident.

Unidentified miscreants abducted Abu Bakar Siddique alias Siddiqur Rahman Litu, husband of Syeda Rizwana Hasan, the chief executive of Bangladesh Environmental Lawyers’ Association (Bela), from Fatulla area on Dhaka-Narayanganj link road on Wednesday.

Siddique, executive director of ‘Hamid Fashion Ltd’ situated at Fatulla post office intersection, was picked up while returning to Dhaka from Narayanganj by his car.

Khaleda said the country’s people are also seriously worried the way Siddique was abducted in broad daylight on the outskirts of the capital.

“This incident has proved that no one is safe anywhere and the law and order has seriously deteriorated. The killing and abduction of opposition leaders and activists making them disappeared and torturing them across the country at the behest of the ruling party has become a regular phenomenon. Now the security of apolitical and eminent citizens is at stake,” she added.

Khaleda conveyed her deep sympathy to the family members of the victim. “I pray to Allah so that Siddique gets back to his family members soon after getting freed safely from the grasp of the miscreants.”
