Jatiya Party acting chairman GM Quader on Sunday said the health condition of his brother HM Ershad, now on life support at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) here, is now stable.
“His (Ershad’s) health condition has improved in some cases. If this trend continues, it can be said his condition has improved. The physicians said his condition is now stable,” he said.
GM Quader came up with the remarks at a press briefing at Jatiya Party chairman’s Banani office.
He said unnecessary water and wastes from Ershad’s body are being removed with modern treatment and dialysis.
The Jatiya Party acting chairman said his brother has been given artificial support to keep his different organs functional. “Physicians hope his health condition will gradually become normal, and he’ll return among us recovering illness.”
On Thursday, the 89-year-old former military strongman was put on life support.
Ershad, also the leader of the opposition in parliament, was admitted to the CMH on 26 June as his condition deteriorated.
He has been suffering from various old age complications, including low haemoglobin and liver problem, high bilirubin and serious keen pain.
