Khaleda’s interim govt formula unacceptable: Inu

Terming opposition leader Khaleda Zia’s proposal for polls-time interim government unacceptable, Information Minister Hasanul Haque Inu on Tuesday said it is not possible to implement the proposal under the existing constitutional framework.

The Information Minister made the remark at a press briefing at the Press Information Department (PID).

Inu said Khaleda Zia was not careful when she placed the polls-time government proposal.

Talking about Khaleda Zia’s offer to choose 10 former advisers from the 1996 and 2001 caretaker governments, Inu said the caretaker government of 1996 and 2001 were controversial and the role of the ex-advisers was questionable. “So, it’s proved that the ex-advisers would not be able to play an impartial role.”

“Given the current situation and in the light of the constitution, Khaleda Zia’s proposal is irrelevant. It means that they are trying to delay the polls and push it into uncertainty,” he added.

Inu also said although the opposition chief’s proposal is contradictory and unacceptable we think it as a positive step and the door of dialogue is not closed yet. “We’re ready for the dialogue,” he said.
