BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir Wednesday alleged that the government wants to implicate his party’s Senior Vice-Chairman Tarique Rahman in August 21 grenade attack case to harass him politically.

“Tarique’s name was not included in the first charge sheet. But the Awami League government included the name of Tarique in the charge sheet later to tarnish his image,” he claimed at a press conference at the party’s central office at Nayapaltan.

Mufti Abdul Hannan, one of the accused in August 21 grenade attack cases, was taken to 120-day remand and was compelled to mention Tarique’s name in connection with the incident, he claimed.
