Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police have busted a Yaba manufacturing factory at Jatrabari in the capital claiming the first ever factory of the banned contraband drugs in the country.

DB officials also arrested mastermind behind the illegal drugs manufacturing and three of his associates with 1,265 pieces of yaba tablets from the ground floor of the factory building named Banashpati in Jatrabari area.

The detained were identified as Ali Akhbar, 28, Md Sohel, 32, Md Rubel, 24, and Abdur Razzaq, 45.

Police also recovered a huge number of raw materials, equipments after a special raid conducted in the area on Friday night, Masudur Rahman, deputy commissioner at the media centre of DMP endorsed the information to media on Saturday.

“Among the detainees, Akhbar is the main manufacturer of Yaba tablets. He had been manufacturing Yaba tablets in association with Rubel at Rubel’s house while Razzak, Sohel and Rubbel had been assisting him to sell the drugs in the black market,’’ he said.

DC Jahangir Matubbor and Masudur Rahman told the Dhaka Tribune that the detection of the Yaba manufacturing plant is the first ever in Bangladesh.
