Verdict leak impossible: AG

“Leaking of the judgment is out of question. It is not correct. It’s merely an assumption,” he said Tuesday after the International Crimes Tribunal-1 delivered the verdict.

While the verdict was being read, Salauddin Quader Chowdhury said that the copy of the judgment was available on the internet for the last two days.

“There’s no need to read out this,” he said in court.

Earlier on Tuesday, the BNP MP’s youngest son Hummam Quader Chowdhury claimed that they had ‘already read the judgment’ in a web portal.

He referred to a website named www.justiceconcern.org when asked where he had read the judgment.

SQ Chowdhry was proven guilty on 9 counts out of the 23 charges brought against him.

Four of them were charges of “heinous murder and mass murder” and that’s why the court ordered death sentence, said the Attorney General.

Alam said the BNP leader was given 20 years in prison on each on the three other counts including the killing of Natun Chandra Singha and five years of rigorous imprisonment each on the remaining two counts.

“The mass murder of the Hindu community and other people by SQ Chowdhury was heinous. The judgment is just,” said Mahbubey Alam.

He added that though a lawmaker for six terms, SQ Chowdhury had displayed much audacity throughout the trial.

“His repugnant behavior has hindered the trial process in a different way.”
