A united Awami League can’t be defeated, said Sajib Wazed Joy while addressing party supporters in Tangail’s Bhashani hall.
“Work as a unified team. No one can defeat Awami League if it’s united,” he told the gathering of party leader and activists.
The question of who will be the party nominated candidate in the national polls should not be a matter of concern now, added the AL chief’s son.
“Awami League should be voted back to power so that a poverty-free, mid income and a digitized Bangladesh can be built.”
Earlier, at a public rally in Madhupur Upazila, Joy asked the youth to back Awami League.
“We are working for your future,” he told a public rally at Tangail’s Madhupur Upazila on Monday.
Joy is in Tangail on a campaign trail to highlight the Awami League-led government’s achievements during its current term.
He was greeted by food minister Abdur Razzak when his motorcade reached Rani Bhabani High School ground in Madhupur at around 11.15 am on Monday.
The Prime Minister’s son was ushered onto the stage of the rally with traditional Shaontali dance.
At the very beginning of his speech, Joy called upon the youths to be with the party.
“We started trying the war criminals; some of them have been sentenced. Now it’s time to implement the verdicts. The Opposition Leader has said she would free the war criminals,” he told the rally.
“Do you want to see the criminals released?” he asked the gathering
The audience replied ‘no’ raising their hands.
The war for liberation was yet to be over as the ‘anti-liberalists’ were still active, said the Awami League chief’s son.
“And that’s why the upcoming polls are not just another election. It’s the one to finish the revolution of 1971. The anti-liberalists can be wiped out if Awami League wins the election,” he added.
The country would go back to the ages of bomb-attacks and terrorism if the pro-liberation forces were not in power, Joy told the gathering.
In his brief speech, he highlighted the development works carried out by the government.
Electricity generation capacity was at 3,000 megawatts during BNP’s term and it has been now hiked to 6,500 megawatts, he said.
“The country sees development when Awami League is in power.”
On the way to Madhupur, hundreds of activist and supporters greeted Joy with banners and placards.
Joy’s latest initiative of roaming around the country is aimed to boost morale of grass-root level activists of the Awami League ahead of the national polls.
The two-day campaign was kicked-off Sunday with a rally at Tongi’s Telephone Shilpa Shongstha colony ground followed by four more rallies at Gazipur and Mymensingh.
On his way back to Dhaka, the prime minister’s son will address two more rallies in Mirzapur and Chandra on Monday.
