Jatiya Party chairman HM Ershad on Wednesday said there is a deep uncertainty over the next parliamentary election as the door of negotiation has been closed due to conflict between the two major political parties.
“It’s dark all around … nothing can be said what will happen,” he said while addressing the convention of Jatiya Party Rangpur district and city units at Rangpur town hall.
Referring to Awami League- BNP squabbling, the former military ruler said all the doors of negotiation have been closed due to conflict of the two parties.
“We don’t know where the country is heading toward. The country is passing through a deep uncertainty. No independent country can be run this way. People peace,” said the worried JP chairman.
He, however, said the existing election system will be changed making it free from money and muscle power if his party comes to power.
Ershad went on: “Jatiya Party won’t be looking up to another party to go to power any more. People now want a regime change. So, JP will go to power contesting the election alone.”
JP secretary general ABM Ruhul Amin Hawladar, presidium members commerce minister GM Qauder and Zia Uddin Bablu, JP MP Anisul Islam Mondol, leaders SM Fakhar-Uz-Zaman Jahangir, Tajul Ilsam and Karim Uddin Bharasha, among others, addressed the function.
Later, Ershad announced a 201-member committee for the district unit and 119-member committee for the city unit making Moshiur Rahman Ranga president of both the committees.
Abul Masud Chowdhury was made general secretary for the district unit, while Salauddin Kaderi general secretary for the city unit.
