A housewife who suffered serious burn injuries as her husband set fire to her by pouring kerosene over her body died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Monday night.
The victim Laboni Akhter, 25, wife of Manik Chand of 435 Medical Road of Jurain under Kadamtoli Police Station, breathed her last at the burn unit of the hospital at 10:50 pm.
Daughter of Md Helel Uddin of Char Charia in Nababganj upazila, Dhaka Laboni married Manik 12 years back.
Sources at the DMCH said Laboni had an altercation with her husband on Sunday night over family affairs.
As a sequel to that, Manik Chand, said to be an addict, reportedly poured kerosene over Laboni’s body and torched her around 12:30 am when she was asleep.
Hearing her screams, neighbours rushed in and took Laboni to the DMCH with 53 percent burn injuries.
Manik Chand went into hiding.
