Advertising agency Top of Mind acquired the sponsorship rights of the Bangladesh team for the upcoming bilateral home series against Pakistan, confirmed the Bangladesh Cricket Board yesterday.
The floor-price of the deal was set at Taka 2 crore 50 lakhs. Top of Mind and Grameenphone both placed upgraded bids but the former quoted a higher price. According to board sources, Top of Mind bagged the deal after quoting Taka 3 crore 17 lakhs whereas Grameenphone quoted a bit higher than the floor-price.
“We received four bids for the national team sponsorship for the Pakistan series. The board had taken the decision to call back the top two bidders,” said BCB chairman of marketing and commercial committee, Kazi Inam Ahmed, to Dhaka Tribune yesterday.
“We received an upgraded offer today (yesterday) from Grameenphone and Top of Mind. As the highest bidder, we decided to award the team sponsorship to Top of Mind,” Inam added.
BCB had floated tenders for the national team sponsorship last month after ending its alliance with Aamby Valley, a concern of Sahara India Pariwar. The deadline of the tender expired last Sunday. However, as the bidders failed to meet the BCB’s expectations, a re-bid took place between the top two bidders to determine the winner.
