In a statement, TIB executive director Dr Iftekharuzzman said: “The term of incumbent ACC chairman Ghulam Rahman is going to end on June 23 next. As per the Anti Corruption Commission Act, professional efficiency, experience, fairness and acceptability of a person will have to be given priority in appointing the ACC chairman.”
He said that the selection committee, which will recommend the new ACC chairman, has to be appointed ignoring all sorts of political influence.
Iftekharuzzman suggested the government to form a five-member selection committee comprising a judge of the Appellate Division, a judge of the High Court Division, Comptroller and Auditor General, chairman of Bangladesh Civil Service Commission and the latest retired Cabinet Secretary to select two names for the post and send the names to the President.
He demanded public disclosure of the anti-corruption activities conducted under the present ACC chairman.
