This appears to be a huge diplomatic middle finger to the US government by the Bangladesh government. Benazir Ahmed, the US-sanctioned police chief, has been nominated as a delegate to the UNCOPS event in New York. Per the host country agreement the US has with the UN, they must give Benazir a visa. Clearly shows how the Hasina government intends to mock and taunt the Biden administration. This is what a policy of “constructive engagement” with these human rights abusers achieves. I hope US diplomats in Dhaka and DC take note of this, and present a proper response on December 10, 2022.
