A Dhaka court yesterday granted 16-day remand to deputy general manger of Teletalk AKM Asaduzzaman in two cases of misappropriating government revenue.
Deputy director of Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) SM Sahidur Rahman produced Asaduzzaman, former divisional engineer of Bangladesh Telecommunication Company Limited (BTCL), before a metropolitan magistrate court and sought 20-day remand in two cases.
After hearing the ACC prayer, magistrate M Saifur Rahman granted 16-day remand.
The ACC in a drive on Thursday arrested Asaduzzaman from his office in city’s Gulshan area on charge of illegally giving connections to some so-called international telecom carriers and misappropriating government revenue.
On November 5, the ACC filed five cases against 14 people, including six officials of the BTCL, on charges of misappropriating government revenue totaling Tk 205 crore.
